Monday Morning

Top of the morning to you all!

Some started their gorgeous day off by going to mass while some tried to catch up on some sleep.

(Nell's chalk art at the women's shelter translates to "Jesus loves you")

There was a little mix up on our morning plans (for some of us.) The first stop we made this morning was at the women's center where Chona's niece showed us around where about women and sometimes their children come to bake, weave and sew. I (Shannen) was by Ann and Andrea who said they were in awe of seeing the womens center again because in their recent trips here they actually helped build it and plant the grass. To me, hearing that from them was really amazing because it shows how we really are making a difference here.

The next tour of the morning was at the hospital. There was many people waiting for a check up because they had foot surgery 2 weeks prior. We were informed when we arrived that an employee of 25 years at the hospital had a heart attack this morning on his walk to work, so please keep him, his family and friends in our prayers. During the morning, Cami got to observe Dr. Will as he had twelve appointments with patients! More info to come from Cami's blog post!

After the hospital we got a tour of the coffee tree nursery. It was very awesome to hear how the people of Guatemala cherish everything about nature. The majority of us LOVE coffee so hearing and seeing how Guatemala coffee is made was very interesting.

Right before lunch a couple of wonderful ladies asked Nell if she wanted to help make some tortillas for lunch-- she was a pro and very proud of her tortilla making skills!

It has been a life changing trip already! The people here are poor but are so rich inside. The smiles of the people warm the heart and bring tears to the heart! Keep us all on your prayers por favor!

Adios for now mi amigos!
